PATTI AND JOHN's folk roots were firmly established in their home town of Edinburgh, Scotland.

   Their International Act has taken them all over the world with appearances in the U.K. AFRICA, THE MIDDLE EAST, THE U.S.A., BERMUDA and CRUISE SHIP appearances with NORWEGIAN CARIBBEAN and CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES throughout South America and The Caribbean. They were headliners in major hotels on the overseas circuit for Inter-Continental Hotels,Sheraton and Hyatt. They appeared in Lagos, Nigeria; Nairobi, Kenya; Lusaka, Kitwe and Victoria Falls, Livingstone , all in Zambia; Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania; Mashad & Isfahan, Iran; Abu Dhabi and Dubai, United Arab Emirates. By popular demand they made several return visits. In all their travels, interesting and amusing incidents are bound to happen. John tells of how a Shiek in Iran once offered him 75 camels in exchange for Patti. Not realizing at the time what a valuable rate of exchange this was, John declined the offer!!! Aye Right!!!

   They won a major talent competition in Edinburgh, Scotland and their professinal career began with the world famous WHITE HEATHER SHOW appearing in theatres throughout Great Britain. The show was a Scottish Variety Show featuring the very best of Scottish Dance, Music, Wit and Humour. They went on to appear in Theatre and Television in Scotland with Lex McLean, The Corries, Francie and Josie (Rikki Fulton and Jack Milroy), Robin Hall and Jimmie McGregor, Andy Stewart, Calum Kennedy, Alisdair Gillies and all the old greats of Scottish Theatre and Television. They appeared in pantomime in Dick Whittington at Motherwell Civic Theatre with Phil McCall. Other Theatre performances include; The King's Theatre, Edinburgh, The Gaiety, Ayr, The Whitehall Theatre, Dundee, The Usher Hall, Edinburgh, The McEwan Hall, Edinburgh, The Theatre Royal, Glasgow, The Floral Halls, Southport, England, Lythan St. Anne's, Theatre Royal, St. Helens, Lancs. and Town Halls in Pitlochry, Arran, Falkirk, Wick, Dumfries, and Dundee. They made several appearances at the prestigious Culloden House Hotel, Inverness for major American companies including Dupont and Bechtel and also entertained at major oil company events for Conoco and B.P.

   Stateside John and Patti's show has been enjoyed by thousands at Scottish Gatherings, Hotels, Concerts and on Cruise Ships. They were the first guitar duo to take over The Piano Bar at the Backstage Restaurant at The Union Plaza in Las Vegas. .They took over the Piano Bar at Henry VIII Restaurant in Southampton, Bermuda for an extended stay. They were the opening Act of Stouffer's Inn of Westchester in White Plains, New York. They had an extended contract with Stouffer's Pine Isle Resort on Lake Lanier,near Atlanta, Georgia. Their public performances include Concert in The Park Series, Glover Park, Marietta, GA., French Chamber of Commerce- Callinwolde Fine Arts Centre, Atlanta, GA., Chateau Elan, Winder, GA., Reggie's English Pub, CNN Centre, Atlanta, GA. also appearances at The Atlanta Athletic Club, St. Ives Country Club, Duluth, GA., and The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead, Atlanta. In New York they appeared on The Joe Franklin T.V. Show which led to performances in Las Vegas and Chicago. Convention appearances included the Coca Cola Company, Double Day Publishing Company of New York, Georgia Association of Broadcasters to name but a few.

   John, Patti and Katie had the extreme honour of being the first Scots to perform in The House of Representatives at THE FLORIDA STATE CAPITOL in TALLAHASSEE as part of The Irish Delegation. The McILROYS presented their Scottish Culture through Music and Dance to The Elder Hostel Program ( Adventures in Lifelong Learning) at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Florida. During their time in Panama City they organized the first Scottish Festival at Grace Presbyterian Church, The Scottish American Society, Scottish Country Dancing and John founded The Panama City Pipes and Drums. They continue to volunteer as on - air fund raisers for Public Radio at WFSU 88.9 - TALLHASSEE, Florida.

  They perform the music of Scotland and Ireland in their own unique style with a touch of wit and humour. Patti is an exceptional vocalist with a haunting, beautiful voice and John continues to amaze the audience with his versatile musical ability on guitar, fiddle, penny whistle, banjo and bagpipes. Their ROBERT BURNS EVENING of music and verse is highly acclaimed and in great demand especially John's rendition of THE ADDRESS TO THE HAGGIS.

   Patti and John have hosted specialized tours to their homeland acting as guides and introducing the American visitor to the "real" Scotland.

   The McILROYS have now evolved into a musical family group with their daughter Kate who plays flute and bagpipes and also has an incredible voice.
